Work Projects

I do quite a lot of things like DIY and enjoy inventing a solution as much as finding one. I use the internet for a lot for research, as so many people post so much advice on how to do things - mostly free of charge.

The adage: You're never going to understand the answer, if you don't know how to ask the question - is perhaps a poignant reminder, in that learning is fundamental in all things.

I have found in general that it doesn't matter what you are doing, employers or those around you are keen on better solutions. I have been lucky in that I have quite often been able to implement new ideas, and have included a few examples that I consider are worth explaining.

I have also been lucky with my colleagues. It is insightful just how many people have good ideas and can contribute. Everything I've done has been with the co-operation and assistance of others. Seeing talents in others and utilizing them enhances my ideas, skills, and projects while also making them feel valued too.

It is satisfying to create in the workplace, and if done well and conscientiously, it can benefit so many people in ways that are too numerous to mention. It doesn't always work, as some companies are very dogmatic in their views, so caution is advisable until you can analyze the situation. On the whole, I have the opinion that it is possible with a little thought.

There are so many advantages it is impossible to list them all, but my advice in general is: If you can do it, try. It is better to try and fail than never to try at all unless we're talking about things like parachuting or befriending a shark, of course.
